WHICH FISHING LICENCE - ANGLER OR RECREATIONAL FISHERMAN?
There are two types of fishing licences - angler's fishing licence and recreational fisherman's licence
Angler
If you fish with light fishing tackle, you should have an angler's fishing licence.
Hand fishing tackle comprises for example fishing rod, jig and harpoon - tackle
that you fish actively with.
Who do not need an angler's fishing licence?
Persons under the age of 18
Persons 65 years old or more
Recreational fishermen who already have a recreational fisherman's licence
The owner of the lot lying closest to the fresh water used for fishing and the rest of his household
Anglers fishing in "put and take" lakes (trout lakes)
The fishing licence is personal and must not be used by others - neither persons in the family nor persons with the same address.
Recreational fisherman
If you fish with tackle such as nets, traps and hooks, you should have a
recreational fisherman's licence. The tackle fishes passively without you
having to be present.
To be a recreational fisherman, you should:
Be 12 years old (there is no upper age limit)
Have permanent residence in Denmark unless you come from an EU country, Iceland or Norway and for example on account of your work have close affiliations to Denmark.
You should have a recreational fisherman's licence even if you are 65 years old or more.
The fishing licence is personal and must not be used by others - neither persons in the family nor persons with the same address.
Natural fresh waters - with the owner's permission. If you fish with tackle, the tackle must be marked with name,
address and land registry number of the property possessing the fishing right
Canals, ditches and similar water ways created by human beings, but which form part of natural water ways
Please pay attention to the fact that there are many places where fishing is not
allowed. This may be because of preservation zones, rules about distance or
local angler clubs/associations possessing the fishing right. And there are
areas where fishing is totally banned.
Angler's fishing licences for fishing with light hand fishing tackle such as rod:
1 year - DKK 185. Valid 1 year from the day of payment
1 week - DKK 130. Write which period on the licence
1 day - DKK 40. Write which day on the licence
As for day and week licences, you may select a validity day or period different
from the day of payment. This day, or start of period for week licences, can be
no longer than 30 days after the day of payment. You should write the selected
day or period on the licence before starting fishing.
Annual licences are valid from the day of payment or 1 year in continuation of the
validity period of the present angler's fishing licence.
Recreational fisherman's licences for fishing with tackle such as nets, traps and hooks cost
DKK 300 for 1 year from the day of payment or 1 year in continuation of the validity period of the current
fisherman's licence. The recreational fisherman's licence may also be used as an angler's fishing licence.
WHAT IS THE MONEY USED FOR - FISH CARE?
The incomes from sales of fishing licences are spent on fish care through stocking,
restoration and similar things in relation to streams and lakes in addition to
measures and research of importance to reproduction, growth etc. of the fish
stocks. In this way, the fish benefit from the means, and this provides better
opportunities for good fishing for anglers, recreational fishermen, sideline
fishermen and professional fishermen.
The incomes amount to about DKK 30 million a year. They are managed by the Ministry
of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, The Danish Agrifish Agency, in
close collaboration with the Danish Institute for Fisheries Research and the
organisations of the fishing industries.
The easiest and cheapest way to buy your fishing licence is here at
www.fisketegn.dk
The post office
You can buy your fishing licence at about 250 post offices and at about 600 post
shops in Denmark. It costs DKK 15 extra in postage and charges.
Points of sale
There are about 200 points of sale where you can buy your fishing licence. They are
for example tourist offices, angling shops and similar places. Some of the
points of sale charge a fee in addition to the price.
Angler's fishing licence or Recreational fisherman's licence
You can only buy one type of fishing licence at a time (angler's fishing licence or
recreational fisherman's licence). If you wish to buy several types of
licences, first you have to finish the purchase in progress and then go back to
the opening screen.
STEP 2 As to angler's fishing licence, choose among:
Day licence
Week licence
Annual licence
STEP 3nbsp;Select if you wish a plastic card (voluntary).
The plastic card is of the same size and quality as a credit card. It is easy to
bring along, and then you are sure to remember your fishing number. The card
costs DKK 15 and will be sent to you within about 14 days after the purchase.
There is no validity period indicated on plastic cards. It is valid as long as the
fishing number in question is extended. The start date of the plastic card is
the date when the plastic card was bought (the date when paying the DKK 15).
You keep your fishing number, and therefore you do not have to buy a new plastic
card when renewing your licence.
STEP 4 Place the selected licences in the shopping basket.
Now you can buy more fishing licences for example for family and friends before
going to the payment screen. Remember that each member of a household must have
his/her own fishing licence.
STEP 5 Check your purchase - is all the entered information correct?
STEP 6 Confirm your purchase by entering information from your payment card:
Card number - found on the front of the card
Expiry date - found on the back of the card
Control number - the last 3 digits in a number sequence on the back above the magnetic stripe or in the signature field
STEP 7 Print fishing licences:
After completion of payment you can print the fishing licence(s) you bought. The
fishing licence contains the fishing number which you must bring with you
together with proof of identity when going fishing. If you are checked, you
must state the number and show your ID.
The fishing licence may be printed in PDF format* or in simple text format, which
can be printed on all types of printers. If there is no printer connected to
your computer, you may just make a note of the fishing number.
Select print format, and press "Print". Then a file transfer message is shown on the screen:
Select "Åbn" (Open) after which the fishing licence is displayed on the screen and can be printed out.
If you select "Gem" (Save), you may print the licence at a later stage.
The information from your payment card is checked. Then DIBS sends a receipt for the purchase
transaction to the e-mail address which may be stated together with the other user information. This takes place
immediately after the purchase. If no e-mail address is stated, this receipt will not be forwarded.
If there are errors, and the purchase cannot be competed for that reason, you will
be informed about the errors. You will also receive guidance on how to correct
the errors.
The fishing number is indicated on the fishing licence which you must bring with together
with proof of identity when going fishing. When you have the number, you may go fishing.
If you have selected a fishing licence of plastic, it will be sent to the address
you stated within about 14 days. It is totally up to you if you wish to buy a
plastic card. If you are checked, you just have to state your fishing number
and show your ID. If you have stated your CPR number when buying the licence,
you can state this instead of the fishing number.
Getting a plastic card is a good idea. It is easy and practical to bring along, and
then you are sure to remember your fishing number.
The amount is normally withdrawn from your account on the business day after you
have paid.
CHANGE OF PASSWORD
When you have purchased a one-year fishing licence you can subsequently use
the fishing licence number as user ID and the postal code as the password if
you want to log onto the fishing licence page.
The first time you log on with the postal code as the password, you will be asked
to change the password.
The password is changed by selecting "change password" on the blue menu line.
Enter the postal code first and then write the new optional password twice.
The password is changed when you click on update.
If you change address and thereby postal code, the password/the old postal code
will not be automatically changed to the new postal code if you have, at an
earlier time, selected to change it to an optional password.

the angler's fishing licence or the recreational fisherman's licence. You may
